Will microsoft office 2000 professional work well with windows XP?

i already purchased a full license for microsoft office 2000 pro some years ago. i plan to buy a new pc with windows xp pre installed, but i don't want to buy another license for a new office xp pro since the 2000 version does everything that i need it to do. i only make use of word, excel and powerpoint, just basic stuff.

I ran Office 2000 on XP for quite a while and then upgraded to 2003, never had any issues with 2000 and several people that I know still run Office 2000 on XP machines.
