if i remove microsoft works 8 from my laptop will it mess up anything ?i dont need it and its taking up a lot of space.

If it has it's own uninstaller, it should be ok. Setup a "System Restore" point, as a safety measure, first and then use the program's (Works) uninstaller to uninstall it.
If you have a registry editor, run it, then defrag and all should be well.
