Does microsoft have a database program which can be shared online?

Am looking for a membership database program for our organization which runs over the internet. It should store names, addresses and other info about members. Any suggestions? I would prefer dependable developers like microsoft, for the sake of durability.

The idea is that you create an interface for your users to access the database by. You can expose any database to the public, but that is typically a bad idea for security reasons.

Create a web application AROUND your database rather than giving all of your users direct access to it. For this, you might want Microsoft SQL Server, or for a cheaper alternative, MSDE/SQL Server Express 2005.

Wow... you have some strange definition of the word "dependable" Microsoft developers are dependable to leave out important routines that help protect your computer and make their programs run reliably. They are dependable in that any program from Microsoft will have at least one major security update you need to apply to keep your computers and data safe. They are dependable to be among the worst developers around, from a security standpoint.

There are free online databases like QuickBase and a google spreadsheet program. You can also use free database solutions such as the one from OpenOffice and MySQL.
MS-SQL Server is probably a little to advanced for your needs

I would recomend starting out with a sharepoint type application
