First off, as others have said, you need the Mac version, unless you plan to use Apple's Bootcamp or Parallels, both of which require a copy of Windows (read more here: http://www.macworld.com/2006/04/features... ). What I would suggest is just downloading NeoOffice, which is a open-source alternative to Microsoft Office (http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/inde... .) Also, your Macbook will have a trial of Office and iWork pre-installed, I believe.

I believe the publisher version was 98, but could also have

If it was an older version of Publisher, it probably wasn't compatible with Mac.

The newer versions of Publisher can help you with Macs.

I love mine even if it has broke down twice. I know they're coming out with a new version in about a month. It has the new type of HDMI port on it. I'd have to imagine they fixed some problems. I've heard they've extended their warranty to two years in case you have any problems. I bought the warranty just in case at Best Buy when I bought mine. The first one I had would freeze up for no reason. The second one I had just broke down for no apparent reason too. All the lights turn red and it doesn't do anything. probably going to be an advanced option on your video card, go to your display settings then advanced. I know my old geforce card had an option for flippin the screen 90 or 180 degrees

I had the same problem, at that time i had to underline the wrong spelled words in different colors depending on the kind of error that word detected, to simulate that the page was printed the same way it was on Word. I don't know of any way to print out the spelling and grammar errors, but if you want to keep a rough draft, consider saving a copy of the .doc file with a different name, say "original name -- rough draft.doc".

Since it's not a hard copy, be sure to back up your files often.

It sounds like when MS office was installed it was not a complete install and alot of the stuff is set to install on first use from the disk. If you still have the setup folders available on your harddrive from the install you can browse to those folders and install from there if not you will have to get a disk.

I feel your pain. Micro$oft has been yanking me around, too. Here's what I found out. If a M$ product uses a Product Key for activation (and just about everything does!), you can only use the product on one machine. So, if mom, dad and junior all have their own computer, someone has to shell out big bucks for 3 separate copies of XP, Office, etc.

The good news is, M$ will "usually" let a person use the same install disk on a different computer.... If you sign over your first born child, let them suck a gallon of blood from you, and chop off a specific body part of their choosing. (Just kidding about the gallon of blood!!)

What operating system are you running? Win98, Win2000, Win XP or Vista?

You may want to reinstall the O/S because this is caused by a faulty installation.
Verify it with Microsoft.com, they have a program that will identify it legit.

If you "downloaded" that file in an email, then opened it from the email and started editing, I'm afraid all your work is gone.

Opening a file and editing this way creates a temporary file for Word to use, then immediately deletes the file after Word is finiished running. ALWAYS save an email attachment, then run the application on the saved document.

just normal; like for 25 XXV. It won't have the lines on top and bottom but it works.
if you are numbering, writing the numerals out like letters, followed by a fullstop then a ssapce then state the point...when you press enter, Word will auotatically format it into Roman numerals and will number the next points for you.

Its weakness is you have to pay for it.

Nope. That's called a hard wrap, where actual End-of-line markers (EOL markers) are inserted on every wrap.

I recall all GameFAQ guides being plain text only. You may want to use a plain text editor. Some of the more powerful ones have hard wraps.

I use Vim, which can do this easily. There is a steep learning curve to using it though (for Windows users at least). But if you have an interest in picking up Vim...

well the only reason Microsoft decided to do this is there was hints that the federal government along with other international governments was going to investigate Microsoft for fraud and selling faulty products of which they decded to sell, so MS decided to take a 1 billion dollar hit ind=stead of something higher from all of the gov'ts which was to total over ten billion dollars in fines and repairs. Although this is only a temporary fix to the real problem because the xbox's will break down again because it's a design flaw, and therefore will probably lead to a recall of all MS xbox 360s if the rates continue to go higher in the next couple of months.

As far as I know, you can't.

Excel will insert the picture in its original size, meaning the inserted picture will be, say, 640 x 480 pixels in Excel if it is 640 x 480 pixels in reality.

You can, of course, resize it in several ways after inserting it.

What you're asking may be possible with VBA code but I'm no specialist in that area.

Had a computer that crashed and bought a new one. The former computer ran Microsoft Works 8. We have a back-up of all the data and the Instal disk for the program. Will Works 8 run on our new machine? If so does it need patches or are there other issues I need to be aware of? According to the Microsoft website, version 8 will work with Vista. If there are any patches that are required, you shouldn't have any problems getting them from MS.

All of the new computers that I have purchased that actually came with Windows also had Works already installed (including the HP I just got with Vista) so I'd double check that you don't already have Works 9 on it.

You could make one yourself by using the Rectangle and Oval tools on the Drawing Toolbar. Draw the square with the Rectangle tool and begin the Oval at the top left corner of the square, dragging down to the bottom right corner and it should fit in properly. Experiment with the line thickness by right-clicking on the shapes and choosing 'Format AutoShape' and the 'Colors and Lines' tab. Click on the drop-down at 'Weight' and increase the size.

I agree!!! Last night i was playing halo, and one of my friends got the "xbox live doesn't work but your internets okay" thing, and it's happening to loads of people. The CEO of Microsoft is a crazy guy, or let me word that better a man full of energy. I wouldn't doubt that he'd force his kids to only use Microsoft products. But there is no way Microsoft can eliminate google, they actually had a chance to purchase google a couple years ago before they became public, I guess that would be the only way they could have done anything.
